Integrity

Every block goes into an append-only Merkle log. The newest state of the log is signed, checked and cosigned by MLX Node Macs, and anchored hourly on Solana and daily on Bitcoin, so history can't be rewritten or shown differently to different people without it showing. Once an hour, every wallet's balances are committed with the total USDC the network owes.

The first checkpoint is signed within a minute of this release.

Check a wallet

Your browser recomputes the path from your balances to the signed root and the USDC total; mlx.app can't fake a match.

The work

Every job a Mac runs is chosen by the sequencer, and its prompt comes from a seed only the sequencer holds, so no answer can be worked out before the job is handed out. Up to five Macs of different wallets get the same job and their answers are compared. Paid jobs aren't live yet, so every token so far is verification work: the paid share below starts at 0% and goes up when they are.

A Mac's chip decides what a dedicated seat earns on it. It is checked against the chips Apple sold under the Mac's model identifier and against its speed as the sequencer times it: a Mac claiming a bigger chip that runs below 60% of the base-Mac speed is carried as a base Mac. Answers are compared, and count for pay, only between Macs of one GPU group (M1, M2, M3–M4, M5 and newer): different GPU generations round the same sums differently, so their greedy answers can honestly differ. Data: /api/compute/work.

State commitments

Committed once an hour after new blocks.

Public anchors

Hourly on Solana and daily on Bitcoin (OpenTimestamps) once the log has a checkpoint.

Witnesses

MLX Node 0.9.7 and later keep the newest checkpoint they have seen, check that each new one extends it, and cosign it with the Mac's Secure Enclave key.

What it doesn't yet: that every transaction was applied correctly (replay audits come next).
